About General Bryant Dunaway
General Dunaway and his wife, LeeAnn married in 1995. They have three adult children, identical twin daughters, Julianne & Katie and a son Jennings Grant.
He was elected District Attorney General for the 13th Judicial District on August 7, 2014 and assumed the office on September 1, 2014. General Dunaway was re-elected, without opposition, to a second eight-year term September 1, 2022. The 13th Judicial District comprises the 7 counties of Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Overton Pickett, Putnam and White.
General Dunaway is a graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, Tennessee Tech University and the Nashville School of Law. In the 1990’s, he worked as a police officer for the Cookeville Police Department. After graduation from law school and prior to his election as District Attorney, he was engaged in the private practice of law. He is a frequent presenter & instructor on legal ethics, law enforcement training, constitutional law, firearms and the use of force.
He and his family are members of the congregation at the Collegeside Church of Christ. He is a State of Tennessee firearms instructor and teaches regularly; he is a Rotarian and former board member with the Rotary Club of Cookeville. He served as chairman of the board of CityScape and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of both the 13th Judicial District Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the Upper Cumberland Family Justice Center.

Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Office of the District Attorney General for the 13th Judicial District is to hold criminal offenders accountable. Our office pursues the guilty and at the same time protects the innocent. We safeguard the public welfare and safety of our citizens by discerning the true facts of every case with honesty and humility.
