May 13, 2025

On February 12, 2024, correctional officers entered the pod James Franklin Puckett JR. was being housed in. While conducting a security search of Puckett’s cell, Puckett exited his cell with blunt objects and homemade weapons. Puckett and his cell mate then sprinted at the correctional officers and chased them to the back of the pod. Numerous other prisoners followed and sprinted towards the officers and cornered both officers at the back of the pod and began assaulting them with their homemade weapons, a broken handicap rail, and a broken rolling arm chair.

Puckett was found guilty by a Trousdale County jury of 1 count of aggravated riot, 1 count of aggravated assault, 1 count of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and 1 count of possession of weapons in a penal institution. He will be sentence in June 2025.
